Discover Antoni Gaudí's first masterpiece, a building that marked the beginning of a new way of understanding architecture. Located in the Vila de Gràcia, this house museum was the beginning of a new way of understanding architecture: free, colourful and deeply inspired by nature. Since 2005, Casa Vicens has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Built between 1883 and 1885 as a summer residence, Casa Vicens is one of the most striking gems of Catalan Modernism. Its style blends Eastern and Mudejar influences with a strong presence of natural elements, creating a unique work in which ceramics, wrought iron, colour and meticulous ornamentation stand out, heralding the artistic language that would define all of Gaudí's future work.

Casa Vicens Gaudí

Visiting Casa Vicens is like travelling back to the moment when Gaudí's creative genius was born: an encounter with the origins of his style and his vision of art as a union between architecture, nature, beauty and functionality. Through its rooms, gardens and ornamental details, you will understand how Gaudí, at barely thirty years of age, conceived architecture as a total work of art.

During the visit, you will discover some of the building's most emblematic spaces:

  • Garden: a small urban oasis that recovers the natural essence of its original design.
  • Ceramic façade: decorated with Moorish rose tiles, the flower that grew spontaneously on the land and inspired the architect.
  • Historic interiors: rooms that combine painting, wood, wrought iron and sgraffito, transporting visitors to the artistic world of 1885.

The experience is completed with a free audio guide in 16 languages, free Wi-Fi access and services adapted for families, school groups and people with reduced mobility.
