Castelldefels Castle

Castelldefels Castle was built in the 10th century on Iberian and Roman ruins dating from the 3rd century BC. Perched on a hill standing 59m above sea level, it boasts views of the Garraf Massif and Barcelona, overlooking the southern part of the Llobregat Delta. The castle was used to defend the land from Arab invasions and pirate attacks.

The castle remained abandoned for a time, until the banker, Manuel Girona, commissioned the architect, Enric Sagnier, to restore it in 1897.
It is on the list of Spanish National Heritage Landmarks.

On this audioguided tour, you can visit the ground floor of the castle where you’ll find an exhibition of models, the church of Santa Maria and “Piratia”, a multisensory journey during which you’ll become part of a pirate crew and discover their secrets.

On the first floor, you’ll visit the grand hall and fencing room and complete your tour on the castle roof terrace where you’ll enjoy magnificent views of the Garraf Natural Park.
