Pablo Ruiz Picasso spent his formative years in Barcelona and studied at the fine arts academy, the Acadèmia de Belles Arts. It was housed in the medieval commodities exchange, the Llotja de Mar, and is now open to visitors.
Picasso frequented the beer hall, Els Quatre Gats, which was the meeting place for renowned artists, such as Ramón Casas, Santiago Rusiñol and the musician and composer Enric Granados, who held literary and artistic gatherings there. And he was also in contact with the bohemian, underground scene in Barcelona at the time.
The Museu Picasso showcases practically all the artist’s early works until the Blue Period. The museum also houses a series based on Las Meninas and a collection of prints.
On this 1 hour 30 minute tour, the guide, who is an art expert and Picasso enthusiast, will tell you in detail about his life and work.
Delve into the world of Picasso, because, in his words: “Art is the lie that enables us to realize the truth.”
