Trans Montserrat

Montserrat is a Benedictine monastery, a natural park and a symbol of Catalan spirituality and culture. Thanks to the Trans Montserrat card, you can get there easily from the centre of Barcelona and explore the mountain at your own pace.

The Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) train departs from Plaza España and takes you to Monistrol de Montserrat or Montserrat-Aeri, where you can choose between the rack railway or the cable car to go up to the monastery. During your visit, you can enjoy a unique natural environment, discover Catalonia's most emblematic spiritual sanctuary and admire the figure of La Moreneta, the Virgin of Montserrat.

The Trans Montserrat card includes all journeys from Barcelona to the top of Montserrat, access to the monastery and use of the funicular railways, without having to worry about queues or additional tickets. In addition, you will enjoy a unique panoramic experience with the Cremallera or the Aéreo (which operate every day), and you can delve into the history of the sanctuary in the audiovisual space. Therefore, your Trans Montserrat ticket includes:

  • Return journey by metro to Plaza España.
  • Return trip by FGC train to Montserrat (Monistrol or Aeri).
  • Return trip on the rack railway or Aeri cable car.
  • Unlimited use of the Sant Joan funicular railway.
  • Access to the Santa Cova funicular railway (if in service).
  • Entrance to the audiovisual space "Montserrat Puertas Adentro".
  • Free access to the Basilica and the throne of the Mare de Déu de Montserrat (subject to capacity, no priority in queues).

The Trans Montserrat card allows free cancellation up to 24 hours before the day of use, and children under 4 travel free of charge. In addition, stations, trains and the rack railway are accessible to people with reduced mobility.

It is important to note that no refunds are accepted once the voucher has been exchanged for the physical card, and the printed voucher must be exchanged for the card at authorised points.
