The Zurich Marató de Barcelona is a city marathon that brings together sport, the urban landscape and a sense of shared energy. Its flat, fast course passes some of Barcelona’s best-known landmarks, from the Sagrada Família to the Arc de Triomf, with each kilometre running through familiar streets in a different way. It is a demanding marathon, but also a chance to see the city from another angle. Crowds line the route at every turn, carrying the runners towards the finish, where physical effort takes on something almost epic.

This is good to know

The marathon is widely seen as a city-wide celebration, with bands, locals cheering and banners lining the route.
It has grown into one of Europe’s leading marathons, known for its atmosphere, organisation and scale.
It is worth arriving early at the start to avoid crowds, find the bag drop and agree on meeting points along the route.
The final stretch, especially from kilometre 38 onwards, is one of the most lively parts of the course. The support of the crowd, often from complete strangers, can make a real difference in those last kilometres.
