Barcelona Design Week is an annual festival of creativity and design that connects innovation with everyday life in venues across the city. Its aim: to imagine a more conscious future through creative action. Workshops, talks and exhibitions showcase new ideas and projects that inspire the community and foster dialogue across disciplines. For a few days, Barcelona becomes a laboratory of solutions, where design is presented as a practical tool for addressing social, economic and environmental challenges.

This is good to know

It’s common to see visual artists in conversation with industrial designers, or to encounter collaborations between established graphic designers and emerging talents working in ephemeral installations. This blend of disciplines isn’t an added extra; it’s at the heart of the festival.
Although the Disseny Hub Barcelona (DHub) is the epicentre, BDW extends across the city. Poblenou, known as the creative district, hosts many of the activities.
Many workshops and exhibitions are free to attend, though it’s advisable to register in advance: places are limited and demand is high.
Some key exhibitions remain open at the DHub for months after the official week. If you miss something, there’s still time to see it.
