Every winter, BCNegra brings crime fiction to the fore in Barcelona, turning the city itself into a setting. For a few days, readers, writers and voices from the genre gather in auditoriums, libraries and across the city. Stories cross borders and invite a different way of seeing the everyday, as though it might already belong in a novel. Plots and mysteries run alongside urban life, hinting at its darker, more compelling edges.

This is good to know

Each edition brings around 50 events across the city, including talks, panel discussions, literary tours, screenings and the presentation of the prestigious Pepe Carvalho Prize.
It draws together more than a hundred people from publishing and the wider cultural world, including both local and international voices in crime fiction.
Many events are free and open until full, though sessions with well-known international authors tend to fill up quickly, so arriving early helps secure a place.
