Ciutat de Clàssica is a series of free concerts held in distinctive venues across Barcelona. Each spring, this Barcelona Obertura initiative turns museums, grand houses and notable architectural spaces into settings for classical music. With programmes ranging from Bach to contemporary composers, it brings young local talent closer to audiences and welcomes more than 500 international artists. A lconcert series that challenges expectations and brings classical music into the life of the city.

This is good to know

Hearing Bach in a Gothic cloister, or contemporary composers in a museum, can change how you listen to classical music.
These are relatively small venues, so places are limited and tickets go quickly. There’s no need to queue, but it pays to be quick: free tickets are released online a few weeks in advance.
Part of the programme looks at the links between music and the city’s history.
