Organised by Barcelona Obertura, Clàssica a la platja turns Sant Sebastià beach into a large open-air concert space for symphonic music, free and open to all. At dusk, the Mediterranean becomes the backdrop and the sand an informal seating area. Musicians from the city perform arias, overtures and major works, some well known, others less familiar, bringing classical music within easy reach. People sit facing the sea, sometimes with their feet in the water, as the breeze drifts through a scene that feels both everyday and remarkable.

This is good to know

Bringing a towel, mat or folding chair really does make a difference: the sand is comfortable enough, but a small touch can turn the experience into a proper front-row spot by the sea.
During performances, silence matters. Not just out of respect for the performers, but because it lets the music blend with the sound of the waves and the evening light.
Major music institutions in the city such as the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Palau de la Música Catalana and L’Auditori take part, ensuring a carefully put together programme of high artistic quality.
