The exhibition “Like a Murmuration of Starlings. MACBA Collection: Thirty Years and Infinite Ways of Being” presents a selection of works tracing the MACBA’s journey from its beginnings to the present day. Through iconic pieces and recent acquisitions, it invites us to interpret the collection as a constantly evolving whole, where works engage in ongoing dialogue from a contemporary perspective. In a context shaped by migration, political resistance and emerging forms of collectivity, the exhibition reshuffles the collection, highlighting the voices that have shaped it and opening up new readings of its history.

This is good to know

Notice how pieces from the nineties engage in dialogue with the most recent acquisitions: the contrast reveals how perspectives and contexts have evolved.
The museum is using its 30th anniversary to reflect on which voices were previously excluded (in terms of gender and background) and to include them in this expanded “family portrait” of the collection.
