Stage 2

Sunday 5 July

Tarragona → Barcelona

Hilly | 168 km

A spectacular stage combining the Costa Daurada and inland landscapes that finishes in Barcelona in the challenging climb to Montjuïc Castle.

Arrive time: 17.21 h – 17.44 h

Stage finish location: Montjuïc (Olympic Promenade)

Roads closures will be in place until the race has passed through.

Stage 3

Monday 6 july

Granollers → Les Angles (France)

The stage starts in Granollers, about 30 km north of Barcelona, before heading towards the Pyrenees and the French border.

The Grand Départ of the 2026 Tour de France puts Barcelona at the centre of the cycling world. On 4 July, the race begins with a team time trial from the Fòrum to Montjuïc, passing landmarks such as the Sagrada Família. The second stage links Tarragona and Barcelona on a demanding route that ends with several climbs of Montjuïc. For the first time, the city hosts the official start, becoming the backdrop for one of the biggest events in international sport and drawing teams and fans from around the world.

Team presentations will take place in landmark venues such as the Sagrada Família and the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau.

Since 1954 (Amsterdam), several foreign cities have hosted the Grand Départ. In 2026, Barcelona makes history with Montjuïc, the “magic mountain”, taking centre stage.

Check road closures and restrictions in advance and bring food and water, as services along the route will be limited for this edition.
