The Hyundai Mitja Marató Barcelona by Brooks is a flat, fast course through some of the city’s most recognisable streets. It passes wide avenues, well-known neighbourhoods and areas where the city opens onto the sea. It is more than a race: around 30,000 runners take part each year, experiencing Barcelona at a different pace. Each edition confirms its place on the European calendar as a key event for those chasing a personal best in a lively urban setting.

This is good to know

Along the route, more than 30 bands play local rhythms that carry you forward with every step. There’s no need for headphones because the city provides the soundtrack.
Refreshment points are set up every 5 km. Even if you don’t feel thirsty, it’s worth stopping, as the effort and the weather can catch you out if you are not careful.
The race has held Gold Label status since 2018. It is not only fast and appealing but also among the best regarded in the world for organisation and quality.
The final stretch is long and straight, so you have to grit your teeth. If you still have something in the tank, this is the moment to use it, with the crowd’s cheers pushing you on.
