New Year’s Eve in Barcelona is a lively celebration that blends spectacle, tradition and fun. The centre of the action is Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina, where thousands gather for the twelve chimes at midnight, fireworks light up the sky and the Font Màgica de Montjuïc provides the backdrop. Once the public celebrations come to an end, the city turns to gala dinners, private parties and, of course, the traditional grapes. No formalities, just atmosphere, laughter and plenty of celebration.

This is good to know

Admission is free, but capacity is limited, so it’s worth arriving early at Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina.
As tradition goes, you eat 12 grapes in time with the chimes. Don’t forget to make a wish with each one.
The metro runs all night, making for easy and safe travel.
