La Casa dels Entremesos is a centre dedicated to the production and promotion of Barcelona’s traditional popular culture. Located in the Sant Pere neighbourhood, it brings together around fifty festive figures, including gegants (giants), capgrossos (big-headed figures) and beasts, which are usually only seen during the city’s major celebrations. Its name refers to the old entremeses: short performances that accompanied processions and popular festivities. As well as preserving this collective imagery, the venue organises temporary exhibitions, workshops and talks to help visitors understand the city through its most vibrant traditions.

This is good to know

If you go on a Saturday morning, check the programme: there are sometimes open rehearsals by one of the city’s giant or bestiary groups.
