The Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor de Jesús is a monumental church perched on Tibidabo in the Collserola mountain range. The church stands on the site of a former Salesian hermitage, inaugurated in 1886 during Saint John Bosco’s visit to Barcelona.
Its architecture presents a striking dialogue: the lower crypt, in Neo-Byzantine style, coexists with the Neo-Gothic upper church. This architectural statement, like Barcelona’s Modernisme, embraces a bold blend of styles.
