The Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor de Jesús is a monumental church perched on Tibidabo in the Collserola mountain range. Visible from nearly every corner of the city, it combines Neo-Gothic and Neo-Byzantine styles, topped by a bronze statue of the Sacred Heart. As you draw near, a hushed stillness settles over the air and the eye is drawn to the sculptures that adorn both the façade and interior. Light filters through the stained glass, casting soft colour across the stone walls. It is an imposing temple where spirituality, architecture and panoramic views meet in perfect harmony.

This is good to know

The church stands on the site of a former Salesian hermitage, inaugurated in 1886 during Saint John Bosco’s visit to Barcelona.
Its architecture presents a striking dialogue: the lower crypt, in Neo-Byzantine style, coexists with the Neo-Gothic upper church. This architectural statement, like Barcelona’s Modernisme, embraces a bold blend of styles.
