The Hivernacle is an iron-and-glass greenhouse in Parc de la Ciutadella. Sunlight filters through palms and ferns, creating a sheltered, verdant atmosphere. Built for the 1888 Universal Exhibition, it has served as a tropical garden, an auditorium and a cultural stage. Today, it stands as a green sanctuary, with three naves and a symmetrical plan that radiate history and beauty. The central nave, which serves as the main entrance, invites an unhurried stroll, allowing visitors to soak in the botanical calm and architectural poetry.

This is good to know

Dance swing among the plants, explore a pop-up market or stumble upon a lively exchange of ideas. Here, nature does more than breathe – it improvises.
Conceived by Josep Amargós i Samaranch, the Hivernacle is protected as a Site of Local Cultural Interest.
