Avinguda del Paral·lel
Urban spaces
Paral·lel is an historic avenue closely tied to Barcelona’s theatre and nightlife. From the late 19th century and through much of the 20th, it brought together theatres, musicals, comedies and cabarets that shaped the city’s cultural life, drawing working-class and bourgeois audiences into the same spaces. Today it is home to venues such as the Teatre Apolo, Teatre Victòria and El Molino, which continue its theatrical tradition. Even now, the avenue retains something of that stage-like atmosphere, with busy terraces and varied architecture where a simple walk can feel like the start of a performance.
