The Torre del Rellotge is a former lighthouse on the Moll de Pescadors, originally built to mark the entrance to the harbour. In 1904, when the docks were remodelled, it lost its original function and a large clock was added. Though it may go unnoticed at first glance, its pyramidal stone tower stands out against the industrial and maritime skyline of Port Vell. From many corners of Barceloneta, this structure can still be seen, setting the rhythm of the neighbourhood. A pioneering Mediterranean lighthouse, now listed as a Local Cultural Heritage Site, it quietly marks the hours of Barceloneta.

This is good to know

The Torre del Rellotge played a key role in the creation of the international decimal metric system still in use today. It was one of the reference points used by the scientist Pierre F. Méchain, alongside the Castell de Montjuïc and the Catedral de Barcelona.
Although its interior is not open to visitors, the tower is visible from several vantage points around Port Vell. At sunset, the light brings out its geometric forms, making it one of the harbour’s most striking views.
