The Teatre Nacional de Catalunya is an institution dedicated to theatre, dance and the performing arts. Its headquarters, inaugurated in 1996, occupy a monumental building by Ricard Bofill inspired by classical architecture, with a large glass-and-steel atrium. Its three auditoriums host classical and contemporary theatre, family productions and international performances. A space where the architecture does more than house the show: it also sets the scene before the curtain rises.
