Font de Diana (Fountain of Diana) is a white marble sculpture by Venanci Vallmitjana, completed in 1913. It depicts the Roman goddess Diana standing on a stone fountain, composed and dignified, holding a bow and arrow. Naturalistic details surround the figure, drawing on classical mythology and its relationship with the natural world. The careful modelling and restrained movement of the pose reveal the sculptor’s skill. Since the early 20th century, it has been part of the city’s urban landscape and a notable example of public sculpture.

This is good to know

In 1898, Vallmitjana presented a fully nude version of the sculpture. When it was installed in 1919, the more conservative City Council asked for a tunic to be added.
