Gat (The Cat) by Fernando Botero is a seven-metre bronze sculpture with the rounded, voluminous forms typical of the Colombian artist’s work. Its oversized presence invites both curiosity and interaction, as well as quiet observation. Since arriving in the city in the 1990s, it has brought a lighter, more playful note to its surroundings and become a familiar presence in the public space.

This is good to know

It’s a symbol of the Raval neighbourhood and of Barcelona itself, and is linked to a local legend that says touching its private parts brings good luck.
