In the heart of Sant Martí lies the Mercat del Clot, a market with more than a century of history. Opened in 1889, it replaced an open-air trading space with a key hub for daily shopping, housed beneath an impressive building of exposed brick, metal framework and stained glass designed by Pere Falqués. Here, the memory of the old farmers lives on alongside the scents of fresh produce – artichokes, mushrooms and prawns. It’s a place where locals still fill their baskets, embracing a traditional way of shopping.

This is good to know

For decades, many people travelled to the market by train, particularly up until the 1960s. The journey there was well worth it.
