The Mercat dels Encants is one of Barcelona’s oldest second-hand markets, with more than seven centuries of trading history. Under its large mirrored canopy designed by b720, over 500 traders sell antiques, furniture, vintage clothing, books and all kinds of unexpected finds. It is a place to browse, bargain and browse again. Between the busy aisles and morning auctions, a long-standing trading tradition remains very much alive. There is also space to pause, with bars and food stalls across the market.

This is good to know

The public auction of goods still takes place here, a practice recorded since the 14th century and now rare in Europe.
Arrive early if you’re looking for something unusual, or later on if you’re after a bargain.
