The Museu d'Història de Barcelona - Plaça del Rei is the main site of the Museu d'Història de Barcelona and the place where the city narrates how it has changed over time from its Roman foundation to the present day. At street level, the square is one of the finest examples of medieval Barcelona. Beneath it, an archaeological route unfolds beneath the square, allowing visitors to walk along first-century streets, discover an ancient dye workshop, and trace the early steps of the Christian community. Above the ruins, the medieval complex completes the journey with spaces such as the Saló del Tinell and the chapel of Santa Àgata: a direct immersion into the city's foundations.

- The route is not meant just to be looked at: it is for walking. More than 4,000 m² of archaeological remains can be visited beneath the Gothic Quarter.
