El Refugi 307 is a former Spanish Civil War air-raid shelter, painstakingly excavated by hand by the residents of Poble-sec and now converted into a centre for historical interpretation. In memory of those who experienced the war from below ground, the visit reveals the living conditions that once prevailed within its walls. Traversing nearly 400 metres of damp tunnels and bare chambers evokes stories of collective resistance. Visiting is a direct, moving experience that leaves a lasting impression.

This is good to know

It is one of the few Spanish Civil War underground shelters that can be visited in Barcelona. Some walls still bear original inscriptions: notices, warnings… and even the occasional message of hope amid the bombs.
