Museu Tàpies

Educational activities are organized for school and family audiences, with support materials that show the textures and materials used by Antoni Tàpies in his works.
Upon prior request, it is also possible to arrange a guided tour for people with visual impairments, with the support of this tactile material.
Guide dogs are allowed throughout the premises.

Audiovisuals shown in the exhibition rooms are usually subtitled.

On request, the Museum offers inclusive guided tours with sign language interpretation.

Museu Tàpies has very few architectural barriers.
The historic building is well adapted for wheelchair users. A fully accessible extension was later added to the rear of the original building.

A wheelchair loan service is available. Please ask at reception.

Entrance:
The main entrance has a 12 cm-high step. An alternative entrance for wheelchair users is located at the left-hand side door, where there is a sign with the corresponding accessibility symbol and a call bell. Staff will open this door and assist with access, either via the ramp, which is short but has a steep gradient, or by installing a portable ramp to reduce the gradient of the fixed ramp.
Directly in front of this entrance there is a large lift providing access to the reception area and the exhibition rooms.

Reception:
Reception is located half a floor below street level. This area also houses the bookshop-shop and the lockers.
The visitor services desk has two heights: 122 cm and 76 cm. The lower section only allows a lateral approach by wheelchair.
The lockers have a maximum height of 103 cm.

Getting around inside:
The route through the museum presents no circulation difficulties. The rooms are spacious and there is sufficient space between the exhibits for wheelchair users to move around.
The flooring is non-slip.
Level -1 contains the main exhibition hall, the auditorium and the toilets.
Level -2 contains the temporary exhibition hall. This space has two levels separated by a flight of 3 steps. A wheelchair lifting platform is available to overcome this change in level.
Level 1 contains an exhibition space and the Fundació library. The library entrance door has a small 4 cm threshold.

Lifts:
There are two lifts, both freely available and connecting all floors.
The lift in the historic building, with a 125 cm-wide door, does not reach the rooftop. The lift in the modern part of the building, with an 80 cm-wide door, provides access to the rooftop, where the large “Mitjó” sculpture is located.

Toilets:
There is an accessible toilet on level -1.
The cubicle door is sliding and 81 cm wide. There is a fixed grab rail to the left of the toilet and a fold-down grab rail to the right. There is clear space under the washbasin measuring 71 cm high and 46 cm deep.

Bookshop-shop:
It is located on the lower mezzanine, where the reception and visitor services area are also situated.
The shop counter has two heights: 122 cm and 76 cm. The space is suitable for wheelchair users.

The Tàpies Museum collaborates on social inclusion projects and provides prior advice for self-guided visits.
With prior request, it also offers guided activities adapted for people with comprehension and learning needs.
