From 29 September 2026, the Museu Tàpies will be closed to the public for three months for maintenance.
Designed by the modernista architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, the building once housed the Montaner i Simón publishing house, an important part of Barcelona’s printing history.
Tàpies worked with marble dust, earth and everyday materials, creating works that question, surprise and unsettle.
Start your visit on the rooftop, where the sculpture Núvol i cadira (Cloud and Chair) floats like an enigma. The bookshop offers a grounding contrast, with a carefully curated selection of books on the artist, non-Western art, and other disciplines such as cinema and architecture.
