Ocaña is a hybrid space in Plaça Reial where food, nightlife and cultural events sit side by side. Named after José Pérez Ocaña, the artist and LGBTQIA+ activist linked to Barcelona’s counterculture in the 1970s, it carries something of that free-spirited energy into the present. It shifts easily from daytime use to late-night atmosphere, without any clear break in between. The décor is bohemian, with a slightly decadent, Berlin-tinged feel. The programme includes live music, drag shows and other events that keep things moving. A place where night, culture and identity don’t really need to be separated.

This is good to know

The venue is split into several spaces: a restaurant, a terrace on the square, a cocktail bar and a club downstairs, each coming into its own at different points in the evening.
