The Parc Natural del Montseny is a protected reserve of remarkable biological diversity, situated between Barcelona and Girona. Its trails wind through forests straight from a fairytale: mist-shrouded beech woods, oak groves and fir forests. The park is home to wild boar, birds, newts and other elusive creatures. Here, Mediterranean, Eurosiberian and Boreoalpine ecosystems intertwine like nowhere else. It is a place to wander unhurried, to climb, to cycle or simply to surrender to the mountain as it is: wild, immediate and profoundly alive.

This is good to know

Montseny is Catalonia’s only natural park designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and not by chance: three distinct natural worlds converge here with striking intensity.
Since the Middle Ages, tales have circulated of witches, bandits and mysterious figures vanishing into the mist of the Santa Fe beech woods.
For those who relish a challenge, the Matagalls–Montserrat trek offers over 80 kilometres of nocturnal hiking – an expedition where perseverance meets heroism. Those who complete it earn a well-deserved, hearty plate of mountain fare.
