Casa Lleó Morera is a notable example of Catalan Modernisme by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, set on Passeig de Gràcia within the so-called “Manzana de la Discordia” (Block of Discord). Its façade brings together stained glass, floral reliefs and sculpture in a rich display of early 20th century craftsmanship. Between stone columns and carved balconies, nature is translated into ornament. Inside, open to the public, a bright courtyard sits alongside details in ceramic, wood and marble that suggest a refined, understated sense of luxury. Here, Modernisme is expressed with subtlety rather than excess.

This is good to know

Casa Lleó Morera as it stands today is the result of the 1905 transformation of an earlier building. The owners commissioned Lluís Domènech i Montaner, a leading figure of Modernisme, to redesign it as a showcase for the applied arts.
The family name shaped much of the decorative scheme: lions (Lleó) and mulberry trees (Morera) appear repeatedly in carved details, mosaics and stained glass throughout the building.
Original elements remain well preserved, including leaded stained glass, sgraffito, glazed ceramics, carved wood and polychrome marble, all reflecting close attention to materials and detail.
