Casa Martí is a Catalan neo-Gothic style modernist building designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch in 1896. One of Barcelona’s most renowned cultural cafés was founded inside: Els 4 Gats. Surrounded by stained glass and wrought iron details, the venue became a meeting place for artists and intellectuals who shaped the modernist spirit. Inspired by the Parisian cabaret Le Chat Noir, it is still in business as a restaurant today, preserving the bohemian atmosphere of that creative Barcelona.

This is good to know

- It was a venue for gatherings, art exhibitions (including one of Picasso’s earliest shows), concerts and shadow performances.
- Casa Martí, with its neo-Gothic façade and modernista spirit, conceals delightful details such as wrought-iron dragons designed by Puig i Cadafalch, discreet guardians of the building.
