Houses and emblematic buildings
The Fórum Building is a triangular volume in indigo blue, constructed as the central piece of the 2004 Universal Forum of Cultures. Designed by the Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, recipients of the 2001 Pritzker Prize, it rises 25 metres above the ground with an equilateral base measuring 180 metres per side, creating a large public square beneath its structure. Supported by concrete pillars, the building opens onto light wells that organise the interior and strengthen the connection between sea, sky and city. Its geometry has made it a landmark of Barcelona’s contemporary coastline.
