Houses and emblematic buildings
The Trade buildings consist of a group of four office towers erected between 1966 and 1969 in Barcelona. Their lobed cross-shaped plan eliminates corners, creating a continuous silhouette that is uncommon in the city. The lightweight façade of dark glass and aluminium, clearly influenced by New York skyscrapers, reinforces their international character. They are not merely a business complex: they introduce a new approach to construction, featuring curved forms, modular repetition, and a modern image that marked a turning point in the architecture of the upper district.
