The Escola Massana is Barcelona’s municipal centre for art and design, designed by Carme Pinós. The building is arranged through fragmented volumes that create open terraces facing El Raval, avoiding a bulky presence on the square. Its ceramic louvre façade controls the light entering the interior and reflects the applied arts practiced within the centre. Inside, a large central atrium connects the workshops and workspaces, organising the different levels and facilitating continuous circulation.
