The Drassanes Reials de Barcelona are a Gothic complex built for medieval shipbuilding. Constructed between the 13th and 15th centuries, they were where the galleys that supported the maritime expansion of the Crown of Aragon in the Mediterranean were built. Their vast stone halls, marked by a steady rhythm of repetition, still impress with their scale and restraint. They now house the Museu Marítim de Barcelona, where naval history is told through ships, maps and stories that connect the city to its seafaring past.
