The Escola Industrial is a former late 19th-century factory complex, now an educational campus and public space. It began life as a textile factory and still carries its industrial character: exposed brick, iron structure and generous courtyards. Its buildings keep their original, functional proportions, designed for production, now adapted for classrooms and shared spaces without losing their sense of identity. Between workshops and inner gardens, its industrial past sits alongside everyday academic life, and the original scale of the site remains clearly visible.

This is good to know

The Escola Industrial played a pioneering role in technical education in Barcelona, closely linked to the city’s industrial growth from the late 19th century onwards.
Its most distinctive elements include Can Batlló, the original factory site; the Edifici del Rellotge, a former weaving mill; the chimney; and the Paraninfo, all reminders of its industrial past.
