The Torre de les Aigües del Besòs is a tall brick structure in Poblenou that forms part of the city’s industrial heritage. Built at the end of the 19th century, it provided running water through two tanks that used the flow of the Besòs River. Today, it serves as a museum space that keeps Barcelona’s industrial memory alive. The site consists of an adjoining building, where water was pumped up to the tanks, and an observation deck at the top of the tower, with a terrace offering unique views over the neighbourhood. A remarkable example of industrial architecture.

This is good to know

With its 63 metres of exposed brickwork, the Torre de les Aigües del Besòs was for decades the tallest point in Poblenou.
This icon of Barcelona’s industrial heritage never quite fulfilled its original purpose: the water was so poor it could only be used to wash the streets.
Today, the tower is far more than a relic. It hosts cultural events and exhibitions that celebrate the history of a neighbourhood looking to the future.
