The Font Màgica de Montjuïc puts on evening shows of water, light and sound at the foot of Montjuïc. Designed by engineer Carles Buïgas for the 1929 International Exhibition, it anchors the Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina as a distinctive open-air stage. Its programme turns the surroundings into a temporary setting where architecture moves to the rhythm of music, light and water. It never quite stops surprising, with its free and distinctive form of public art turning any evening into something memorable.

This is good to know

The show runs several times on selected evenings and can be enjoyed standing, from the steps of the MNAC, or while strolling nearby.
Each show is brief, but long enough to impress those who watch it.
The soundtrack changes daily, ranging from classical pieces to film scores and popular music.
It has featured in some of the city’s landmark events, from the 1992 Olympic Games to the annual La Mercè fireworks-and-music finale which turns it into a city-wide celebration.
