The Porxos d’en Xifré are a Neoclassical arcaded gallery forming part of a historic residential complex. Beneath its stone arches, urban life mingles with the scent of the sea and good food: this is where the gamba de la Barceloneta became popular, and dishes rooted in Catalan tradition are still served today. The restrained architecture, with marble and columns, contrasts with the lively atmosphere of the place: terraces filled with people keen to enjoy the neighbourhood. Today, the Porxos still retain that sense of being a meeting point between maritime and urban life.
