An icon of Catalan Modernism in Barcelona. Designed by the famous architect Puig i Cadafalch, intellectuals and artists gathered here in the 19th century, as its tables and walls attest. Today tourists outnumber the natives. Young, cosmopolitan crowd and casual, upbeat ambiance. Catalan and Mediterranean cuisine in more than satisfactory serving sizes and an excellent set lunch menu. Service is acceptable but a bit harried. A place packed with history that's worth discovering.
