The MACBA is a museum of contemporary art dedicated to creativity from the 20th and 21st centuries. Located in the heart of El Raval, it occupies the light-filled building designed by Richard Meier, one of Barcelona’s most notable works of contemporary architecture. The museum brings together Mediterranean, American and African art, alongside the European avant-gardes. Its collection and exhibitions span a range of disciplines, in dialogue with literature, dance and critical thought. Workshops and activities turn it into a living laboratory.

This is good to know

It includes works by major contemporary artists such as Tàpies, Miró and Barceló, across a range of media, formats and techniques.
Its library and archive bring together resources particularly well suited to research and the study of contemporary art.
Climb the Torre Mirador for views over El Raval: the MACBA courtyard, the surrounding rooftops and the street grid reveal a neighbourhood in constant transformation.
