The Gran Teatre del Liceu is a major name in European opera and a cornerstone of Barcelona’s cultural life since 1847. Located on La Rambla, its grand neoclassical building hosts opera, ballet and concerts, alongside contemporary stage productions. With exceptional acoustics and a hall rich in history, the Liceu is closely associated with the city’s major musical seasons and festivals. It provides a space where tradition and modernity sit comfortably side by side.

This is good to know

It seats 2,292 and has five amphitheatres, making it one of the largest opera houses in the world.
Among its spaces are the Main Hall, the Foyer and the Saló dels Miralls, as well as the Cercle del Liceu, a private club that is a magnificent example of Catalan Modernisme.
In 1994, a fire destroyed the Liceu, but within five years it was restored to its full 19th-century splendour.
