The Mirador del Alcalde is an urban balcony overlooking the port on Montjuïc, offering panoramic views of the sea and the city. Since its reopening in 2009, the stepped terraces, adorned with glass mosaics, have formed an ensemble of gardens and ornamental fountains. Sculpture, pine trees and Mediterranean vegetation intertwine to create a tranquil space where visitors can sit and take in the horizon. Surrounding stairways and pathways invite further exploration.

This is good to know

The sculpture La sardana, by Josep Cañas, crowns the esplanade, paying tribute not only to the Catalan dance but also symbolising collective resistance to homogenisation – a small bronze revolt overlooking the sea.
The Montjuïc cable car stops beside the viewpoint, allowing visitors to continue enjoying the landscape from above.
Today, the viewpoint also hosts alternative picnics, impromptu concerts and meet-ups that chase the last light of day among pine trees and mosaics.
