The Palau Sant Jordi is a multifunctional arena designed to host major sporting events, concerts and performances in Barcelona. It was designed by Arata Isozaki, the Japanese architect who combined functionality and aesthetics in an adaptable structure. The roof-supporting structure was assembled on the ground and then lifted into place, a defining moment in its construction.
If you are attending a concert or match, it is worth arriving early: getting in can take time and exploring Montjuïc is part of the visit.
