The Anella Olímpica de Montjuïc is a monumental complex of sports venues and public spaces on Montjuïc hill, part of the legacy of the 1992 Olympic Games. From its elevated position, it opens out over the city, where sport, culture and architecture come together. The Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys (restored by Gregotti, Correa, Milá, Margarit and Buxadé), Palau Sant Jordi (Arata Isozaki), Piscines Bernat Picornell (remodelled by Fernández and Gallego) and Torre de Telefónica (Santiago Calatrava) form a group of venues that have since been adapted for public use, cultural programming and major events. It remains an open public space in the city, a meeting point and a lasting symbol of transformation and collective pride.

This is good to know

Although often associated with Barcelona in 1992, the Estadi Olímpic was originally built for the 1929 International Exposition and fully renovated decades later for the Olympic Games.
Just a short walk away, the Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch brings together technology, history and the values of sport through interactive displays and exhibitions.
The wide open esplanade outside offers one of the quietest walks with views over Montjuïc.
