Port Olímpic, designed by MBM, is a marina lying between the beaches of Somorrostro and Nova Icària. Built for the 1992 Olympic Games, it offers over 700 moorings, sailing schools and an urban park that connects directly with the seafront promenade. The liveliest part of the port is the Moll de Gregal – dubbed the Gastronomic Balcony – lined with restaurants, terraces, bars and nightlife venues. In recent years the area has been transformed to create more public space and strengthen its connection with the blue economy.

This is good to know

Next to the Port Olímpic stand two icons of the city skyline: the Torre Mapfre and the Hotel Arts Barcelona. In front of the latter is Frank Gehry’s golden fish, one of the most recognisable sculptures on the waterfront.
The port has undergone significant regeneration to reclaim public space and improve the quality of the surrounding area.
From Monday to Thursday, it is quieter, making it a good time for a walk by the sea away from the larger crowds.
