At the airport, there’s an assistance service for people with reduced mobility (PRM). You can book it in advance or request it on arrival. It supports you through every step of the journey, from entry and security checks to the boarding gate or baggage reclaim.

You’ll also find accessible help points, staff trained to support people with different needs and spaces designed to make waiting a bit easier, including quiet areas and adapted seating zones.

With ongoing improvements to services and infrastructure, the airport is not only a major international hub, but is also becoming increasingly inclusive and easier to use for people with different access needs.

Aerobús (A1 and A2)

The Aerobús (A1 and A2) connects Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport with the city and is fully accessible. It has ramps, wheelchair spaces, priority seating, and audio and visual stop announcements. Buttons include braille and assistance dogs (including guide dogs) are welcome, making it easier for people with visual, hearing or mobility impairments to travel independently.

Metro (TMB)

The Barcelona metro, run by Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona, is widely adapted for people with reduced mobility. Most lines have accessible trains and stations with lifts, ramps, and audio and visual information systems. Help is available across the network, and it’s worth checking station access before you travel. From the airport, line L9 Sud connects to stations including Zona Universitària, Collblanc and Torrassa.

Train (RENFE)

Rodalies de Catalunya operates around 65% accessible trains for passengers with reduced mobility. The free Adif Acerca service offers assistance at many stations. Key stations such as Barcelona Sants have lifts, ramps and accessible toilets. It’s worth checking accessibility before travelling. There are regular connections between Barcelona Airport (Terminal 2) and stations such as Barcelona-Sants and Barcelona-Passeig de Gràcia on the R2 Nord line.

Estació de França

Estació de França (Avinguda del Marquès de l’Argentera, s/n), built in 1929, is known for its large main hall and the metal structure covering the platforms. It offers the Atendo assistance service for passengers with any type of disability. At this station, the service does not need to be booked in advance: passengers simply need to arrive 30 minutes before departure at the Passenger Assistance Office.

Getting to Barcelona by car is straightforward thanks to a well-connected and accessible road network. The main routes into the city are clearly signposted, with well-equipped service areas and conditions that make driving easier for a range of needs.

Once in the city, there are parking spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility (PRM), both on-street and in public and private car parks, often close to major points of interest. Many areas also offer step-free routes from parking spaces to nearby streets.

All of this makes travelling by car a practical and flexible option, supporting greater independence and more inclusive mobility.
